BENEFIT PLANS
Employees who are working half-time or more in a regular position
are eligible for benefits.
What do I need to do?
- Attend a benefit orientation meeting: Please attend one of
the scheduled new employee orientation meetings closest to your
hire date. This meeting will help you familiarize yourself with
the various plans available to your employee group:
- Complete and submit benefit enrollment forms to the Benefit
Department, Administration building, by the 10th of the month.
Coverage is then effective the 1st of the following month.
What benefits are available?
Benefits are available by bargaining
group. Medical benefits may be composite (one price
for the entire family) or tiered (cost varies depending on the number
of family members enrolled) and this is determined by bargaining
unit.
What do basic benefits cost?

Benefit Pooling - What is it? Pooling occurs when
someone in your bargaining unit does not use their entire district
monthly contribution allocated for basic benefits. The monies that
remain after contributing to basic benefits are put in to a “pool”
for your bargaining unit, the pool is divided by the number of people
in the bargaining unit and used to help defray the costs for medical
insurance. Pooling is recalculated every December after open enrollment.
The following is a list of the pooling rates for the last four
years.
