Why would a student want to enroll in Career Focus?

  • gain specific employment skills
  • explore career opportunities
  • apply learning in the real world setting during the school day
  • earn credit
  • develop leadership skills
  • opportunity to learn in a different setting
  • gain experience which will provide an advantage when applying for paid employment
  • class is designed to enable students to pursue unique interests while attaining academic foundation for future learning

How do students learn?
Students apply classroom learning in a community setting.  Students will interact daily with a full-time teacher/coordinator, business supervisor, employees and peers.  Learning is individualized and designed, in part, by the student.

Program goals and student outcomes:

  • gain specific knowledge and skills in the workplace.
  • reach specific measurable outcomes which are individually designed.
  • focused, sequential "hands-on" learning.
  • show two-way connection between classroom content and application in the world-at-large.
