What is Career Focus?
CF is a learning collaboration between a business and a high
school to provide opportunities for students to learn work
place skills in real-world settings.
Who
can apply? How much time is needed?
Juniors and seniors may spend two to three hours each scheduled
school day in a community business gaining insight and skills
relating to their career interest.
Why would a student want to enroll in Career Focus?

How
do students learn?
Students apply classroom learning in a community setting.
Students will interact daily with a full-time teacher/coordinator,
business supervisor, employees and peers. Learning is
individualized and designed, in part, by the student.
Program goals and student outcomes:
- gain specific knowledge and skills in the workplace.
- reach specific measurable outcomes which are individually
designed.
- focused, sequential "hands-on" learning.
- show two-way connection between classroom content and
application in the world-at-large.
- show students how to relate new information to what they
already know
- learn what careers are available in our area.
- provide personal development through seminars on business
topics and issue.
