YEAR-LONG MENTORING SCHEDULE:

SEPTEMBER Making Connections
The mentors will start to get to know the incoming students on their team, by asking questions and finding things in common.

OCTOBER Stay Ahead
The mentors will coach their team in understanding that if you fall behind in your tasks it becomes harder to catch up and find your way through the obstacles in life – and how this applies to their first year of high/middle school.

NOVEMBER Goal Setting
The mentors will discuss why goals are important. They will help their mentees to understand why many people do not reach their goals, and through this, to learn steps to successfully setting and achieving goals.

DECEMBER Step Up
Also known as “Who’s Coming to the Party”. The mentors will motivate each student to set a goal of improving their grades at least one level up or maintaining their good performance so far. The mentees who do this are invited to a celebration thrown by the mentors.

JANUARY Building Others Up
The mentors will take their team through an activity where they build each other up and learn to appreciate others.

FEBRUARY Bullying and Respect
The mentors will discuss with their team why some students pick on other students; find ways to stop bullying and harassment at school, and to create more respect between students.
