![]() ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT NEWS
Student achievement is our Number One priority and we have many measures that show we're succeeding. From our continual and significant improvement on the Washington Assessment of Student Learning, to our ever-higher Scholastic Aptitude Test scores, our nationally recognized Advanced Placement results, and our extensive honors and gifted programs, we're proud of our work. Spokane Public Schools has been recognized across the country as an exceptionally strong public school system. We've worked with the assistance of a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation grant that has enhanced our efforts toward student personalization, classroom rigor and curricular relevance. The Northwest Regional Education Lab honored the district by using it as a case study in determining just what elements of systems support must be in place for schools to sustain high performance success for each student in each classroom. Spokane Public Schools places strong emphasis on professional development. Our teachers are continually learning to improve climate, curriculum and instruction for students. Additionally, student assessments are continually analyzed to ensure that they record and report critical determinants for student success. Spokane Public Schools knows the skills that students need to succeed as adults, and ensures that they master each one during their course toward graduation. |
