Spokane Public Schools Diversity Advisory Council want help to identify deserving individuals and groups who have focused their equity and diversity efforts to stop bullying and harassment in their schools and life.

Who may be nominated? Any student or student group, staff member or group, community member or group who have made a significant contribution to Spokane Public Schools in the diversity and equity areas of anti-bullying/harassment. Consideration will be given to nominees whose significant contributions have been made in the recent past. Students, staff, and school volunteers must be currently attending, employed by or volunteering at Spokane Public Schools.

Categories for nomination: Elementary (K- 6) student or group, Secondary (7 –12) student or group, district employees and community member or group.

Screening of nominations: Nominations will be screened by a committee appointed by the Diversity Advisory Council. The screening process will ascertain that nominations meet the award criteria by providing answers to the following questions:

  1. Specific Equity Accomplishment or Action: What did the nominee(s) do to help create a bully-free environment in our school community? What equity/diversity need was addressed?

  2. Level of Commitment: What is unusual about the nominee’s dedication? How much time, energy, enthusiasm and skills are involved?

  3. Impact: What was the long-term impact or effect of this accomplishment/activity? What is the ongoing or continuing benefit from this action? What plans are in place to continue this accomplishment/activity? How might this be replicated throughout the school community?

Please note: The Diversity Advisory Council screening committee reserves the right to withhold an award if there are no qualified nominees and may reassign nominees to the appropriate category. Nominees will not receive an award in more than one category.
