7-8 STUDENT CONTENT STANDARDS

 

Components of Fitness

  1. Measure and perform to health related standards for aerobic endurance, muscular
    strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility.
  2. Understand and demonstrate the setting of goals for improvement in fitness
    components.
  3. Measure and understand how body composition relates to overall health and fitness.
  4. Apply basic knowledge of fitness to individualized fitness and health plan.
  5. Use technology to measure areas of fitness (heart rate monitors for aerobic endurance and a device used to measure body composition.

Activities & Safety

  1. Perform fundamental and complex physical skills involved in lifetime activities as well as in individual and team sports.
  2. Understand and demonstrate safety in physical activity.

Health

  1. Understand the relationship between diet and overall health and physical performance.
  2. Identify health risk factors.
  3. Demonstrate sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork skills in a variety of activities.
  4. Consumer Knowledge - understanding of consumer knowledge (i.e., label reading, knowledge of ingredients, and protein to carbohydrate radio).
  5. Identify and measure basic human anatomy and physiology.

Social and Emotional

  1. Individualized goal setting for fitness components.
  2. Individualize goal setting for health related components (i.e., diet and exercise through a variety of activities).
  3. Demonstrate sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork skills.
