9-10 STUDENT CONTENT STANDARDS
- Demonstrate
knowledge and understanding of the components of fitness
by developing, using, monitoring, and evaluating individualized
fitness programs.
- Know and
understand the fit principle (frequency, intensity, and
time) for all five components of fitness.
- Understand
sound fitness principles as they relate to safety issues
during exercise.
- Understand
the relationship between nutrition, performance, and body
composition.
- Understand
the relationship between health risk factors (nutrition,
smoking, blood pressure, lack of exercise, and obesity)
to the top three health killers in our country (heart disease,
stroke, and cancer.
- Acquire
skills and knowledge to reduce back problems, the #1 reason
that people are disabled at work.
- Experience
activities to apply movement principles, skills, and safety
considerations that enhance a physically active life.
- Develop
strategies in the areas of stress, sportsmanship, teamwork,
leadership, enjoyment, and fun to manage social and emotional
well being.
- Understand
and demonstrate goal setting.
- Use the
results from the fitness test to improve their own fitness
program and to recognize potential future health problems.
- Operate
available fitness technology to monitor personal fitness
levels with an emphasis on testing each student's blood
pressure, body fat, cholesterol, ambient heart rate, and
recovery heart rate.
