CHILDCARE
UPDATE FOR MEETINGS
1.
We are not allowed to use any of the P.E. equipment found in the gym or in the
office due to liability issues. The children are allowed to bring their own
basketballs from home to use in the gym during the classroom meetings (7pm
-7:30pm).
2. During
the APPLE action meetings the children will need to do QUIET activities
in the hallway. (homework, coloring, board games, etc.)
3. We will
not be able to use the gym at all on Wednesday, February 19th because it
is open gym night and that is for 4th-6th graders only who have signed up
through HUBS. So quiet activities will be the only option for the entire meeting
coming up.
Parents
we’d appreciate if you’d reinforce this information at home with your
children. There was an issue last time and we need to make sure it does not
happen again.

Remember you are REQUIRED to attend 4 out of 7 APPLE
ACTION MEETINGS. These meetings
are the ones from 7:30pm -9pm. The
classroom meetings are held first from 7pm -7:30pm with either your classroom
teacher or the classroom coordinator. It
is in your best interest to attend ALL meetings so that you can keep
abreast of events happening in the APPLE Program!
All
meetings are held on Tuesday Evenings, the dates are:
*February
19, 2003 (Wednesday Evening)

is available in the hallway by the gym during these meetings.
Tables will be set up for QUIET activities.
Good examples are books, coloring, puzzles, board games, homework, etc.

HOURS!
HOURS! HOURS!
A friendly
reminder to all that all APPLE hours are due in on the 8th day of
each month. The rule of thumb is 10
hours per month September - June to get all 90 hours! That’s 2.5 hours each
week.
The
classroom meeting with your classroom coordinator is from 7pm - 7:30pm and the
large APPLE Action Meeting is from 7:30pm -9pm in the Gym.

-The 1-2
class is getting started on their individual and group auction project. They
will be working throughout the week of Feb 24th, so parents please plan to come
to class and help out.
-They will
be doing aboriginal dot painting on terra cotta flower pots for the individual
projects on Wed. Feb 26th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, and would love help.
-The class
will be making a rain stick - parents are encouraged to come into the class at
anytime during the week - Kids will be working on the stick in groups of 2 or 3
students, at times that we have parents available - so please pick a time to
come help out.
There
are 3 weeks and one day until the auction!
Tickets
were sent home Tuesday evening. Please
be sure to let Karon Silva-Sanborn know that you got yours if you haven’t done
so already. Remember, APPLE parents
do need a ticket, even if you’re working at the auction. However we understand that this could be a real financial
burden for some families. If you
need help please contact Dawnelle Shaw or Christa Arguinchona. We always have a few donated tickets and are happy to share
them rather than lose out on your time and talent.
If you
already have items for the auction or know what you will be donating, please
turn in the descriptions right away. We
need as many items donation forms as possible by February 21.
We will be
spending a large part of the next APPLE Action meeting going over details of the
auction and what it means to the program. Please
come equipped with any questions or comments you may have.
If you haven’t signed up to work at the auction itself you will have an
opportunity that night.
Just a reminder, the auction is March 8 at the German
American Hall. A correction from
last AA meeting: doors open at 5:00 not 5:30. You must be 21 to attend.
It is an evening of good food and good fun so please
The PTG
Carnival has been moved from April 25th to March 21st.
We are still in need of volunteers.
This is a fun family night, lots of games and fun prizes and don’t
forget the cake walk. We will need
lots of donated cakes and cookies. To
find out how you can help please contact James Choate-Deeds.
February
20th from 6:30pm –8:30pm. Lots
of Math Fun for Everyone! This
event has been co-hosted by Franklin HUBS and LAP!
The children have been hard at work to WOW us parents! So
don’t miss this fun night for the whole family!
And now an
update from your 5th and 6th graders!
Mrs. Jordans rooms has been very busy this past month.
They are exploring the worlds with their new project “Windows of the
World”, They are learning culture, economy, government,
geography and history on Africa! Also,
they have tied in a game called “Caravan”, where they take trips around the
world and have all kinds of problems to solve!
This year in the “Pitter-patter of science” students are learning all
about weather and our atomosphere! They
are doing so much! Way to go Mrs.
Jordan’s class!
