You may have
read the news in the Spokesman Review on Tuesday, January 14th
regarding the Districts decision on elementary school closures. If not, it has been tabled until November 2005.
A flier with more information will be sent out soon.
Its that time again to start thinking about next years class! There will be a sign up sheet at the Apple Action Meeting for current Apple family siblings who will be entering first grade this fall. It is very important that we have an accurate count so that we know how many openings will be available to new families. If you are not planning on staying in Apple for the next school year please let Becky Davis or Mona Higgins know as soon as possible.
Congratulations to Jessica and Matt Gerdes on their newest member and future Apple sibling! Madelyn Josephine Gerdes was born on November 22, 2003. She was 7lbs 5oz with dark black hair and bluish gray eyes.
The Auction
is on March 30th, so mark your calendars if you haven't already. Auction
packets, which contain essential papers for family donations and business
procurements, should be arriving via a backpack near you. If you
haven't received one by Tuesday we will also have them available at the
Apple meeting. The chance to sign up for your favorite auction job comes at
that meeting as well, rumor has it there are bartending shifts left! We
will have explanations of the event and each job for any parents who are new
to the process. See you there! Tickets
to the event will be at a later date.
Also, in order for the Auction to be a success each family is expected to procure a minimum of 3 items. Here is a list of some of the items already procured:

Apple Minutes from
December 2nd,
2003
Christa Arguinchona
discussed the nomination for an Executive Member. Merrie Dehmer officially nominated Darla Eaton. The vote will take place in January.
Stacy Kloth
reminded everyone that the hours are due by the 8th of each month.
She requested that you put an explanation in the comments field for hours
volunteered. It was requested that parents receive an hours update prior to
Christmas break.
Gladys Evans, CAC
rep, discussed the school board
feasibility study and the closing of schools. The district has 6 filters to
decide which of the 38 elementary schools will be closed. Franklin is on the
short list. They are not near making a decision. The school board ultimately makes the decision, but under CAC
recommendation. If questions, contact Gladys for the school board member names,
or contact Mark Anderson.
Christa Arguinchona
went over the current list for Committee Commitments. If you want to be part of
an Auction Committee, now is the time to be involved. The next auction meeting is on 1/6/03 at 7pm. please contact
the head of the committee for more information. Deb Brin Jones spoke of businesses who have donated in the past. She
handed out a list and requested you to contact past businesses who have donated
before. Merrie Dehmer is looking for committee members for the auction food
committee. Dawnelle Shaw is in charge
of coordinating committee members for the auction.
Lisa Regher talked
about the next field trip scheduled for December 19th at the Ice Rink
in Riverfront Park. Parents are to provide the snacks. Any snack made with
peanuts needs to be clearly labeled. Siblings must be paid for and can not ride
the bus. Bring sack lunch. Regarding
the Celebrations committee, Lisa is resigning, and Mark Iverson will be taking her place. Currently there are not any
celebrations scheduled, except the 6th grade graduation. There was a
suggestion of and international potluck and game nights.
The
Executive Meetings are held the Tuesday before every Apple Action Meeting.
The meeting is for ALL Committee Chairs, Standing Positions, classroom coordinators and
the Executive members. They are
from 7-9pm. The next
meeting will be at Duane Sunwolds house on February 17th.
If you cant attend it is
your responsibility to find someone from your committee to attend.
