Unsure, need questions answered???

They are here to help you make your school year a successful one!

DID YOU KNOW?????

Did you know hat if you volunteer to baby-sit during the APPLE classroom and Action Meeting you get DOUBLE DOUBLE  Apple hours hours!!  That’s DOUBLE

Did you know that helping out with  the Franklin vision and hearing screenings you earn APPLE Hours?

Did you know that you can earn hours baby-sitting smaller siblings of parents who are working in the classroom?  This is a great way to trade off baby-sitting so that you can get into the classroom to help out!

Did you know that you need 90 hours per family per year to fulfill your contract?  That breaks down to 2 ½ hours a week, 10 hours a month.

Did you know that attending events WOULD NOT give you Apple hours?  Only if you work an event will you receive APPLE Hours.  So plan on helping out with future events!

Did you know that if two parents* attend the APPLE classroom and Action Meetings you BOTH get to claim 2 hours?  *Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, etc that have turned in their paper work qualify as well.

Did you know that ANY volunteer work you do at Franklin counts as APPLE hours??? You can help out with the Spaghetti Feed, School Carnival, ASB Fundraisers, Library helper, Art Walk, Math night etc.

Did you know that working on a committee usually involves working at home, after hours of school?  This is a great hour maker for those who can’t get into the classroom during the day!

Did you know sometimes the teachers will have work you can take home and do.  Just ask!

Getting Apple Hours is easy so starting collecting them right away!

PEANUT ALLERGY ALERT

Jamal  Al Hafian in Mrs. Jordan’s room has a peanut allergy.  The following information will help you understand the severity of this allergy.

WHAT IS AN ALLERGY?

An allergy is an abnormal response to a "normal" substance. The allergic person has an altered immune response to substances, which would normally not be harmful. Symptoms may vary from person to person, both in range and severity. Not all reactions are immediate.

Anaphylaxis is a sudden, severe allergic response that produces breathing difficulties, collapse and possible death. Symptoms usually occur within several minutes following contact with the allergen and proceed rapidly. Anaphylactic reactions tend to be faster and more severe with each exposure to the allergen.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

*Initial:
tingling lips and mouth hives flushing of face, body diarrhea itchy eyes, nose, face wheezing eyes and face swelling anxiousness vomiting

*Rapidly progress to: weakness and dizziness throat swelling closed inability to breathe
loss of consciousness

*Treatment: treatment must be prompt. You will not have time to wait for the parent or the ambulance. The child may be unable to self-administer the medication due to the severity of the symptoms. The staff at Franklin are trained in the use of the EPIPEN, which is a pre-packaged automatic injector containing adrenaline.
