A JOB WELL DONE

To all who made this year's APPLE Auction a huge success, THANK YOU!

It really does take the WHOLE community to pull off an event like this. For those of you dying to know the outcome, here you go: Right now the numbers show that we grossed an estimated $25,000 and netted and estimated $18,000. This $18,000 is great provision for another year of wonderful events and activities for our children!

We are still working on reimbursements. We will have more accurate totals for you at our next APPLE action meeting on April 15. I want to thank everyone for their continued support of me and Andrea as NEW chairs of the Auction Committee. We had a great committee this year, and we are looking forward to doing it all again next year.

Committee chair

NEWS YOU CAN USE

Early dismissal. Because of teacher/parent/child conferences, it's early dismissal the week of March 23-28.

Silverwood Passes. Don't forget to turn in the reading diary so that your child can earn a free pass to Silverwood Theme Park. The form, which required the children to read 10 hours in addition to their homework reading, is due March 25.

Classroom Coordinators: If you are interested in being a classroom coordinator next year, please contact your current classroom coordinator for more information.

FROM THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Mrs. Hansen has asked that we pick two (2) APPLE parents to be involved in the hiring process for our new 5/6 teacher. You will not have a final say in who is chosen, but you will be a part of the interviewing process. If you are interested, please submit your name to Lisa Regehr by Monday (March 24). Everyone's name will be placed in a "hat" and two names will be drawn on Tuesday (March 25). We will contact the winners by phone and announce it via email. Lisa can be reached at 534-2945 or Lisacutaway@comcast.net.

We are looking for two nominees to participate on the Executive Team. If you are an active participant in APPLE, then this is a job for you. Part of the Executive's job is to run the leadership meetings, the APPLE Action meetings, meet once a month with the teachers, meet as a group and be a contact for four committees/standing positions. It's helpful if you have chaired a committee or been an active member of a committee and attended APPLE meetings regularly. Nominations will be taken at the April meeting. Please contact a current executive member for more information. Terms soon to be vacated are June - June (Lisa Regehr) and September - September (Lori Naylor.)

CLASSROOM NEWS

Fourth-Grade News

The fourth graders just completed their biography book reports and done a fabulous job!!! They presented last week to their classmates. The date for the Living Museum, where they dress up in character and give their speeches for family and friends, will be announced soon.

Fourth graders also are hard at work tackling fractions and long division in Math. New books were assigned in groups last week and they are busy reading and discussing! Keep up the good work on homework and reading!

Don't forget that conferences and early dismissal (1 p.m.) are next week. New hours' letters will be coming home this month and if anyone needs ideas on how to fulfill your commitment to APPLE, just give me a call.

From Christa Arguinchona, fourth-grade classroom coordinator
