HEALTH

Health is
a required course and includes exploration of areas of health
that are pertinent to the students. Areas of study include
body systems, CPR, first aid, substance abuse, mental health,
human growth and development, nutrition and personal hygiene.
The course is continually modified by the school district
to include new health concerns that may develop.
INTRO
TO FITNESS
1 Semester ~ Grade 9
Course #5911, 5951 (2nd)
Introduction
and review of some of the following activities, depending
on season and existing facilities: basketball, floor hockey,
ping pong, softball, badminton, cross-country, gymnastics,
tennis, track and field, tumbling, wrestling, dancing, survival
skills, soccer, speedball, volleyball, physical conditioning,
weight training, and self defense. Experiences with the Super
Circuit equipment support individual work later in life.
LIFETIME
FITNESS
2 Semesters ~ Grade 10
Course #5912 - 5922
Expands on
the principles learned in Intro to Fitness (9). Emphasis is
placed on lifetime activities and games. Activities may include
football, basketball, soccer, aerobics, gymnastics, bowling,
softball, track and field, ping pong, badminton, tennis, pickle
ball, volleyball and weight lifting. Experiences with the
Super Circuit equipment support individual work later on in
life.
ADVANCED
LIFETIME FITNESS
1 Semester ~ Grades 11-12

Advanced Lifetime
Fitness provides an opportunity for the 11th and 12th grade
student to continue with the activities provided within the
9th and 10th grade curriculum on an elective basis. This
course is repeatable.

Expands on
the principles learned in Intro to Fitness (9). Emphasis is
placed on lifetime activities and games. Activities may include
the same activities offered in Lifetime Fitness. Experiences
with lifting free weights support individual work later on

ADVANCED
CONDITIONING
1 Semester ~ Grades 10-12
Course #5935, 5945 (2nd)
Advanced Conditioning
is designed for students who are interested in "year-round"
conditioning: agility training, stretching, cardiovascular
development, free weight training, as well as leadership/self-image
development. This course is repeatable. Students
must have been in good standing for freshman Fitness &
Health. Tenth grade by permission of department chair.
