INITIATIVES - Mentoring Matters

Enduring Understanding:

  • Mentoring relationships offer opportunity for reciprocal growth and learning.

Essential Question:

  • To what extent does mentoring increase optimal learning for students and teachers?

What is Mentoring Matters?
Mentoring Matters supports teachers, instructional specialists, and administrators who are interested in extending their knowledge, skills and strategies for developing productive learning focused relationships. Participants are invited to consider and practice using specific tools for:

  • Clarifying roles, responsibilities and intentions as growth agents.
  • Applying templates and tools for planning reflecting and problem-solving in group and one-to-one settings.
  • Developing linguistic skills to support consulting, collaborating and coaching work with colleagues.
  • Exploring methods for providing feedback to improve instructional decision-making.

Who participates in Mentoring Matters?
Administrators, Principals, Instructional Coaches, Department Heads and T&L Cadre members.
