Procedures
Property transfer
forms shall be completed by the principals/department heads
every time property is transferred in or out of their locations.
Copies of these transfers should be kept on file for future
reference if asked to locate an item. Examples of moves that
would be reflected on these forms would be:
a.
Property coming from or going to a district storage location.
b. Property
coming from or going to another district location other
than a district storage location.
c. Property
going to auction or cannibalization for repair of other
like units.
Attractive Items
Items classified
as attractive items with a value of $300 or more, are portable,
and are in a property classification with a high incidence
of losses or thefts. Below are listed the property groups
usually classified as attractive:
a.
Computer equipment and peripherals
b. Audiovisual
equipment
c. Science
equipment
d. Tools
Marring
The marking
of a piece of attractive equipment in a manner which readily
identifies the item as school district property. The removal
of such marring may render the piece of equipment as unattractive
and/or damaged.
a. Each principal/department head shall arrange
to mar items classified as attractive (as defined previously)
that have not been marred by property management. Property
management staff are available to assist sites with this process
upon request. For marring stickers to be sent to your location,
please contact Lisa Thompson at 354-7188 or email her at LisaTh@spokaneschools.org.
Property valued $5000 or less
For equipment which is not capitalized under Policy 7520,
it is recognized that it is not cost effective to maintain
formal centralized inventory records due to the nature of
this classification of equipment and the volume. Policy
& Procedure 7530 addresses stewardship responsibilities
of the site manager, budgetary authority and central properties
management for capitalized and non-capitalized equipment. |
