PHASE I: INFORMATION OPPORTUNITIES Opportunities for staff to understand “why” we are developing a system wide instructional model for Resource and BI services and to assist in creating the questions and issues to be addressed. · Four district wide meetings were offered for attendees to engage in activities to deepen the understanding of why we are developing a resource and BI instructional services model at this time.
· Administrators, department heads, instructional coaches, counselors, special education staff, and teachers were invited to attend. · Content of each meeting included: o System Initiative o Rationale of “why now” o A time to surface additional questions for the work team to address o Process for selection of the Work Team to include expectations for the members of the Work Team o Next steps PHASE II:
· A Work Team of 30 district educators · The Work Team is expected to: o Participate within the timeline to develop a model. o Read and research the questions and issues developed in Phase I. o Intentionally gather information from his/her respective group. o Provide periodic public updates to district groups. PHASE III: DEVELOPMENT OF A RESOURCE & BI INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES MODEL · The Work Team will examine our current reality, understand the new legislation, and research successful models used elsewhere, in order to develop a Spokane model. · The Team will provide periodic public updates to District groups. · The Team members will engage their represented groups in quality dialogue sessions to provide additional information to the Work Team. (See Note above.) · All District staff are welcome to attend and observe Work Team meetings. Please contact facilitators prior to a meeting · The Work Team will develop a draft of the services model and present it to the Teaching and Learning Directors no later than May 27, 2005. PHASE IV: IMPLEMENTATION OF THE RESOURCE AND BI INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES MODEL · Beginning in the 2005-06 school year.
