SPS Nursing Services are committed to work with families, students, school staff and the community to promote health, safety and academic success for all students.
Goal: To function as a team that respects the skills and gifts of all members, maximizing each others potential and interests.

Nursing
Services include:
- assessment
of and referral of health conditions
- consultation, and control of communicable diseases
- assistance
with medical accommodations in the
school setting
- consultation, training of, and monitoring of medication
administration in the school setting
- provision
of treatments required during the school day

Nursing
Services are provided by:
- 8.6 (FTE) certified lead school nurse
positions
- 6.8 (FTE) classified support registered nurse
positions
- licensed practical nurses assigned to selected
special needs classrooms
- licensed practical nurses provided as needed
by a home health care agency as determined by the school
nurse.
- "Lead" Certified
school nurses are licensed to practice nursing in the
state of Washington. They are required to hold a bachelor
of science degree in nursing and must complete additional
education in order to become certified. Each
nurse is assigned to an area which includes five or more schools.
- "Support" Classified
registered nurses are licensed to practice nursing in
the state of Washington. They come to the district from
a variety of training backgrounds, from diploma programs to
degree programs. These nurses are assigned and supervised
by a certified school nurse.
Several licensed practical nurses (and
registered nurses) are provided by a contracted home health
care agency at the request of the Health Services Director.
These nurses are assigned to individual students for specific
treatments during the school day.
