Nursing Services are provided by:

  • 8.6 (FTE) certified lead school nurse positions
  • 6.8 (FTE) classified support registered nurse positions
  • licensed practical nurses assigned to selected special needs classrooms
  • licensed practical nurses provided as needed by a home health care agency as determined by the school nurse.
  • "Lead" Certified school nurses are licensed to practice nursing in the state of Washington.  They are required to hold a bachelor of science degree in nursing and must complete additional education in order to become certified.  Each nurse is assigned to an area which includes five or more schools.
  • "Support" Classified registered nurses are licensed to practice nursing in the state of Washington.  They come to the district from a variety of training backgrounds, from diploma programs to degree programs.  These nurses are assigned and supervised by a certified school nurse.

Several licensed practical nurses (and registered nurses) are provided by a contracted home health care agency at the request of the Health Services Director.  These nurses are assigned to individual students for specific treatments during the school day.
