The Ready*Corps VISTA team assisted with Shaw Service Learning Summer Adventure 2007 at Shaw Middle School. Students entering the 5th-8th grades had the opportunity to attend from July 16th, 2007 to August 10, 2007. VISTA members hosted a Red Cross Baby Sitters’ training, a computer repair and Computer Tech Service-learning project. In the computer project, students learned to take apart a computer, troubleshoot problems and rebuild the computer. Over 30 students were then able to take the rebuilt computer, complete with educational software, home at the end of each of the two-week classes. TEConnections, a Spokane Public Schools and Department of Social and Health Services program, provides outdated computers that have been updated, to qualifying families.
