Originally I am from Guntersville, Alabama and relocated to Spokane when given the opportunity to work in the Spokane schools in the AmeriCorps Vista program. I have a B.S. in mathematics and philosophy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After graduation, I worked at Guntersville High School providing extra assistance to students struggling to pass the Alabama High School Graduation Exam before leaving to study law at Michigan State University College of Law. Upon returning home, I worked in various capacities including assisting with developing national standardized testing criteria and as a journalist.
This year I will be working in the Instructional Technology Support Center (ITSC) continuing a program which provides refurbished computers to families that otherwise could not afford such a luxury for their children. With the increasing demand for computer literacy in our society, it is imperative that all students, regardless of wealth, be given the opportunity to learn such skills. Hopefully I will be able to expand this program so that the needs of more families can be met. I look forward to working at ITSC and in the local middle schools through the SERT clubs.
