I spent 20 year in the construction industry including starting the Home Builders Apprenticeship program, and being the first Woman in the U.S. to be a Director of a Building Trades Apprenticeship program. My prior husband and I were general contractors while I was a small business consultant working with new contractors. I have been the EO for a building trades association. I was a frequent motivational speaker conducting seminars on time management, leadership skills and non-traditional roles. In the 80’s I conducted training at WOOPS to help integrate women into the trades.
I went into the Peace Corps as a Business Consultant serving in Jamaica for two years. I extended for two years to start a street kids program in Montego Bay. Then I extended to train incoming volunteers on cultural awareness and technical skills. I returned in 1996 with my Jamaican husband. I am a member of the Spokane Human Rights Commission, and the Spokane Task Force on Diversity. I am a stained glass artist and published writer. |
