PAST WORK EXPERIENCES
(also see RESUME)
- ROSAUERS GROCERY STORE
October 1999 to May 2000
STRIVE 6 hours/week Unpaid work experience
Bakery department: put items in bags and containers. Sometimes I need to replace the bags behind the counter. I like the staff there; it is fun to work with them. Sometimes it is kind of slow. I would rather be busy all the time. I don't think I could do this job forever, but maybe I wouldn't mind if I was getting paid.
- SPEEDY- Deaconess Hospital Central Service Department
June, July, August 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999
30 hrs/week paid summer employment
I also worked in this area October 1996 to May 1997 through STRIVE at LC High school for 10 hours/week. I put sticker bar codes on hospital items and put them on the right shelves. I liked the people I worked with. I liked staying busy. There is so much to do there. You don't work yourself out of a job. I did not like it when I had to put items on high shelves.
- AVISTA CORPORATION-Graphics Department
October 1998 to April 1999
STRIVE experience, 6 hrs/week Unpaid work experience
I filed, used the copy machines, stapled papers, used the hole punch machine and put booklets together. I liked the kind of work. I am good at it. I did not like to sit for long periods because I get restless.
- COURTYARD BY MARRIOTT HOTEL
STRIVE experience- 8 hrs./week Unpaid work experience
September 1997 to June 1998
I was able to clean a hotel room independently within 1 hour. This involved making beds, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, and dusting. I liked to work fast. I liked being part of a cleaning crew, but this is not the type of work I would like for a career.
- HERO'S RESTAURANT, NORHTOWN MALL
STRIVE experience
September 1996 to June 1997
10 hours/week. Unpaid work experience
I greeted customers and showed them where to sit. I cleared, cleaned and set the tables. I was nervous to host people, and I did not really enjoy doing the tables. The trays were awkward. I know I would not like that kind of work for a paid job.

Their staff, Brian and Julie, have presented at IMAGES. They are nice. They seem eager to help people find a good job that matches their skills. Ann Jones chose this agency last year. She has an excellent office job.
- JOBB - We toured their new building on 2/3/00. I had to leave early, but I heard from other students that it is a good agency.
