Teaching & Learning Services

It is the mission of the Spokane Public Schools to ensure that all students have the opportunity to achieve their full potential. In a partnership among students, parents, staff, and community members, we are committed to having high expectations for all students by creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment that promotes individual responsibility, academic success, learning as a lifelong process, and respect for one another. To preserve and strengthen a democratic society, the Educational Services Division supports and collaborates with educational staff, parents and the community to develop and ensure a quality learning experience for all students.

We, in Educational Services believe that . . .

  • All children matter.
  • Children need and deserve education success.
  • Public education is critical for the preservation of a democratic society.
  • We can improve teaching and learning.
  • Education both needs and provides a sense of hope.
  • Education is developmental, not just cognitive.
  • It is important to develop both stewardship and a servant's attitude.
  • It is important to tell the truth and solve problems.
  • Everyone has a contribution to make and needs opportunities to do so.
  • It is important to support people with respect and dignity.
