General Information

We are eager to welcome new families to Spokane Public Schools!

What if I live outside the district - can I attend SPS?

Spokane Public Schools also welcomes transfer requests from all students interested in attending school in the district.

Interested parents may simply complete an Application for Non-Resident Enrollment Form (available from your current school district) and submit it to Spokane Public Schools' Student Support Services department.

To ensure we do not compromise the quality of our educational programs, transfer requests from those who live outside district boundaries will be considered based on several factors, including adequate staffing and enrollment capacity, fiscal uncertainties and program availability and capacity. All transfer requests from those outside our district will be considered after transfers from within the district have been completed.

Transfers will be confirmed as soon as possible pending space availability, but no later than June 15 for elementary schools and May 30 for secondary schools.

Acceptance also is contingent upon a review of student records.  A transfer request from someone outside our district may be denied based on a student’s discipline, academic performance or attendance record.

If a student is under eighteen years of age, parental consent must be secured in person or by telephone before a transfer is made.

Requests that are denied can always be appealed.
