NEWTech is a regional career and technical education partnership serving juniors and seniors from our 11 consortium-member school districts: Central Valley, Cheney, Deer Park, East Valley, Freeman, Mead, Medical Lake, Nine Mile, Riverside, Spokane, and West Valley. NEWTech originally opened as the Spokane Area Vocational Skills Center on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1982 to provide access to comprehensive, industry-defined career and technical programs of study.
We are still going strong, working to prepare students for careers, employment, apprenticeship opportunities and college. Currently students apply to attend and participate in one of the 16 different programs we offer. As a skill center, all of our programs provide students with leadership opportunities, industry-recognized certifications, and/or college credit.
