Greetings from Tessera!
Tessera begins in late September or early October. I apologize for the lack of precise dates but my colleagues and I will be busy testing and screening students throughout the district for Tessera eligibility. Soon my students will be here and the learning and the fun can begin! As we settle into our beautiful “Tree House Room”, exciting curriculum will immediately unfold. Here’s a brief preview for you.
This year our Tessera units of study will be Global Citizenship and Explorations. Who ARE our global neighbors and how do their governments compare to ours? How do our governments affect relationships among countries of the world? Why are governments formed? These are just a few questions that will come up as we investigate how people organize themselves during the first semester this year.
Do you like adventure? Do you like to explore? Do you prefer explorations of the physical kind or perhaps do you prefer to explore ideas and ways of doing things? Whatever you prefer, during the second semester we'll be examining what it is about people that inspires explorations of past, present and future!
Just a short word to my students, “old” and new. I treasure the time we spend learning together. Your lively minds, positive attitudes, and spirits of cooperation are an inspiration to me. We are going to have a great year and I can’t wait to get started. See you soon!
And parents, please consider volunteering at Libby by completing and returning the pink form found in your Libby Center packet which will come home with your child the first day of Tessera. We can always use your help and truly benefit from your presence. If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
