Equity in Education - A Definition
"Equity is the outcome of fundamental laws and policies which, when enforced, should guarantee fair treatment and equitable access to resources and programs for all students as well as outreach for parental/guardian involvement. Furthermore, educators must create an educational environment which supports the positive self-esteem needed to enable each student to make a productive contribution to his or her school, community, country and the world."

The Board of Directors and Spokane Public Schools is firmly committed to having a positive educational and work environment that encourages respect, dignity and equality for students, patrons, parents/guardians, applicants, volunteers, contractors and employees. Discrimination and harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, gender/sex, age, sexual orientation, or disability are prohibited.
