9TH GRADE SCHOLARSHIP FOR COLLEGE- The
College Bound Scholarship offers the promise of tuition and books to qualifying
9th graders in Washington!
This scholarship
covers the amount of tuition not covered by other aid, plus $500 for books!
Students can use it at two or four year public and private colleges and
universities, private career schools, community colleges, and technical
colleges. The Application is very simple, but income requirements do apply. To
be eligible, all you need to do is meet the family income standards, take a
pledge to graduate from high school with at least a 2.0 GPA,and
be a good citizen. Family income from your senior year will
be verified upon high school graduation. Students can apply online at: www. Hecb.wa.gov/collegebound. Or

THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON
DO-IT PROGRAM- (Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and
Technology) is for sophomores and juniors who have a significant disability,
and an aptitude and interest in attending college. This program supports
students with a loaned computer and mentoring support year-round, and Do It
Scholars attend the U of W for a free 1-2 week summer session. See Mrs. Popham
for an application. Deadline: January 10, 2009.

FINANCIAL AID P.I.N. REMINDER- Don’t
forget to apply for your Personal Identification Number A.S.A.P. Both you
and a parent need to have a PIN to
enable you to complete the Financial Aid Form online. Don’t
wait until January! Do it now!
FINANCIAL AID FORMS- To be eligible for
college financial aid, students will need to fill out a FAFSA financial
aid form, which WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE
UNTIL DECEMBER, AND MUST NOT BE MAILED BEFORE JANUARY 1, 2009.
REMEMBER- Financial Aid is on
a first-come, first-served, basis. Please apply as early January as possible.

9TH GRADERS VFW OUTSTANDING YOUNG VOLUNTEER AWARD - Recognizes outstanding volunteer service of youths.
Applications are available in the Career
Center (behind the
cafeteria). See Mrs. Popham. Deadline: February 1, 2009.
VFW YOUNG AMERICAN CREATIVE ART CONTEST- GRADES 9-12 - Creative patriotic art
scholarship. $10,000 National first place prize with many
other awards. Use almost any artistic means for your artistic display.
See Mrs. Popham for application and rules. Deadline: March 31, 2009.
W.A.V.E SCHOLARSHIP (Washington Award for Vocational
Excellence) - LC
will choose one senior to compete for tuition funding for four semesters or six
quarters at a Washington State institution. The student may also use the award
for any valid educational expenses, such as books, supplies, room, board, and
transportation. Criteria: Applicant must graduate having spent 360 hours in a
single approved vocational program. Student must submit a statement of need and
other essays. Deadline: Completed applications must be
turned in to the Career
Center by Monday, February 6, 2009.

SAPTAC FOCUS AWARD- For CTE seniors with great
potential. High school seniors enrolled in Career and Technical programs are
eligible to compete. One Lewis and Clark
High School senior will be chosen to compete with students from twenty-five
area high schools. See your CTE
teacher or get an application in the Career
Center. Deadline: Completed applications must be returned to the Career Center
by the end of school on Wednesday,
February 18, 2009.
