WENDY'S HEISMAN TROPHY
AWARDS- For all
senior athletes who are dedicated and have become role-models
for underclassmen. Criteria: Must have a "B" average, compete in at

HORATIO ALGER
SCHOLARSHIP- $2,500
to $20,000 in scholarships and grants to students who have
financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming
personal adversity. Must be U.S. citizen and plan to attain a
Bachelor’s Degree. October 30, 2008.
COCA COLA SCHOLARS- Is dedicated to selecting
well-rounded students from around the nation. Two hundred students will be awarded $10,000 and fifty will be awarded $20,000.

ACT 6 FOUR-YEAR FULL NEED SCHOLARSHIPS TO WHITWORTH OR GONZAGA –Criteria: Good student, under-represented minority,
financially disadvantaged, have urban leadership skills, are first generation
going to college, are eager to foster intercultural skills, and/or have a GPA
above 3.0- There is also a meeting this Saturday, September 20TH- 10 a.m. at
G.U.
WASHINGTON STATE
FOSTER YOUTH- The
State of Washington has several scholarships available for high school students
who are current or former foster youth in Washington. Criteria: You must be on track
to graduate from high school or receive a GED, and
plan to enroll in a post-high school program. These scholarships will provide
from $2,000 to full tuition and room and board for up to five years. Deadline: November 10, 2008 for the
first scholarship.
AMERICAN UNIVERSITY
FREDRICK DOUGLASS SCHOLARSHIP- Provides full or partial tuition awards renewable for up to
four years of undergraduate study at American
University. Criteria: GPA of 3.2 or above, rank in the top half of class, and
more. Deadline:
Early decision: November
15, 2008/Regular decision: January 15, 2009.
SEATTLE UNIVERSITY SULLIVAN LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP- Scholarships ranging from $11,000
to $18,500 per year, for up to four years for outstanding Seattle U. freshmen.
Criteria: High GPA, leadership, and must
be able to attend Sullivan Leadership Day on January 10, 2009. Deadline: November 15, 2008. Applications are

TOYOTA COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP- The Lewis and Clark nominee will compete for one hundred renewable scholarships
valued at $10,000 or $20,000 payable over four years to seniors who enroll in a
four-year college or university. Criteria: Academic performance is a prime
factor in the selection process, but the distinguishing characteristic will be
the overall impact of the student’s contribution in the area of community service. Applicants must have
a GPA of 3.0 or above. Deadline: Completed
applications must be returned to the Career Center
by Thursday, November 20,
2008.
AMERICAN UNIVERSITY

WASHINGTON WINE
INDUSTRY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS- Several scholarships available to students interested in
Viticulture or Enology, who plan to enroll in a Washington State university or
college and study in an area pertinent to
the wine industry. November 30, 2008.
MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP- Criteria: GPA of 3.75 and 30 ACT or 2000 SAT. Twenty scholarships will be
awarded. Postmark deadline is January 9, 2009.
ELK MOST VALUABLE STUDENT AWARD- Over 500 scholarships from $1,000
per year up to $15,000 per year, for outstanding students. Criteria: Scholarship is 450
points, leadership is 350 points, and financial need is 200 points, for a total
of 1,000 points. Deadline: January 9, 2009.
SOCIETY OF
PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS- Six $3,500 scholarships open to Spokane
seniors who plan to enter an engineering college next fall. Criteria: Minimum SAT levels are 600 for math, and 580 for the
average of the new critical reading and writing tests. GPA of 3.0 or higher and student must
submit an essay on, “My interest in Engineering.” The application and essay must be
typed, and signed. Interviews will be held on Tuesday
evening, February 10, 2009.

NASA SPACE GRANT SCHOLARSHIP- For seniors who wish to major in math, science, or
engineering at the U of W. Awards are from $1,000 to $5,500 per year, for up to
four years. Criteria: Academic achievement, test scores,
essays, and recommendations. Deadline:
January 16, 2009.

GSBA PRIDE FOUNDATION
SCHOLARSHIP- $350,000
(over 50 types of scholarships) for self-identified LGBT, members of LGBT
families, or those who have been strongly supportive of the LGBT community, and
have demonstrated a commitment to human and civil rights for all people. Criteria: Transcript, essays, and financial need statement. Deadline: January 23, 2009.
MCKELVEY FOUNDATION- Awards $40,000 to young entrepreneurs who
have started their own businesses. Sixty scholarships will be
awarded in 2009. Criteria: Must be a senior, attend a four-year college
in the United States,
have at least one paid employee, submit an online application. Deadline: January 25, 2009.
AMERICAN INDIAN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP- For
financially needy students with close ties to an American Indian tribe who will be enrolled full-time at a public or independent
college or university next year. Criteria: Three letters of
recommendation, transcript, and statement of intent to return to service in an
American Indian community. Deadline: February 1, 2009.
W.A.V.E SCHOLARSHIP (Washington Award for Vocational
Excellence) - LC
will choose one senior to compete for tuition funding for four semesters or six
quarters at a Washington State institution. The student may also use the award
for any valid educational expenses, such as books, supplies, room, board, and
transportation. Criteria: Applicant must graduate having spent 360 hours in a
single approved vocational program. Student must submit a statement of need and
other essays. Deadline: Completed applications must be
turned in to the Career
Center by Monday, February 6, 2009.

WASHINGTON STATE PTA- $2,000 for students entering
four-year colleges and $1,000 for students entering a community college or
other secondary school. Criteria: Students with financial
need who have demonstrated academic performance and community service. Deadline: February 10, 2009.
COLONEL’S SCHOLARS- Up to $5,000 per year for tuition,
fees, books, and room and board. Criteria: Must have GPA of 2.75 or above, must
be US
citizen or permanent resident. Contact: www.kfcscholars.org. Deadline: Online applications are available
from December 1, 2008 through February 10, 2009.
BURGER KING SCHOLARSHIPS- $1,000 scholarships to all eligible seniors. Criteria: Must work part-time an
average of 15 hours per week, maintain a 2.5 GPA, be actively involved in
community activities and demonstrate financial need.

SAPTAC FOCUS AWARD- For CTE seniors with great
potential. High school seniors enrolled in Career and Technical programs are
eligible to compete. One Lewis and Clark
High School senior will be chosen to compete with students from twenty-five

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MILITARY CHILDREN PROGRAM- Dependents of military may apply for
a scholarship to a university or four-year
college. Individual awards anticipated at $1,500. Criteria:
GPA of 3.0 or above. Additional information is available at: www.militaryscholar.org. Deadline: Application must be received at a
commissary at your local Military Base by February 18, 2009.
ELKS VOCATIONAL
GRANTS- Thirty-two
grants of $1,000 each for graduating seniors who plan to pursue a
vocational/technical course of study. This program is NOT for those who will
attend a four-year university. This grant is for tuition and fees at a Washington School. Deadline: February
27, 2009.
WASA PEMCO 21ST CENTURY EDUCATOR'S SCHOLARSHIP- For seniors who plan to major in
education. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or above. Three winners will receive
$1,000 a year for four years. One student will be chosen
from Eastern Washington. See Mrs. Popham in

SAMMY- GOT MILK? - 2009 SCHOLAR ATHLETE OF THE YEAR- Winners will receive a $7,500
college scholarship, and an invitation to Orlando,
Florida to attend the SAMMY
weekend. Five Criteria: Academic performance, athletic excellence, leadership,

SCHOLARSHIP- Several
scholarships are available for students who plan to attend SFCC or SCC. Criteria: By completing the application
you will be considered for several scholarships for which you qualify.
Criteria: Must have GPA of 2.0 or above, submit two letters of recommendation,
Financial Aid Form, transcript. Deadline:

Foundation by March 16, 2009.
AYN RAND ESSAY CONTEST- First prize of $2,000 for the
winning essays about, “The Fountainhead or Atlas Shrugged.” No application is required, and the
contest is open to students world-wide. Essay must be
between 600 and 1,200 words. Contact:

AMERICAN BUILDERS AND CONTRACTORS SCHOLARSHIP- $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a child or dependent of a member.
Criteria: Must plan to enroll in a construction industry program at a North

FRED G ZAHN SCHOLARSHIP-$1,500 scholarships for tuition for
students who plan to attend an accredited college or university in the State of
Washington.
Criteria: Financial need is a major consideration for this award, personal
statement, transcript, and copy of Financial Aid Form. Deadline: Must be postmarked by April 15, 2009.
JARVIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP- One or more, $1,000 awards to
students who are active in an organized
bowling league. Deadline: May 1, 2009.
MULLAN ROAD ELEMENTARY
SCHOOL- $500
scholarship for a student who attended Mullan Road for at least three years. Criteria: Complete application,
transcript, essay, and recommendation letter. Deadline: May 1, 2009.
NORTHWEST PRIVATE
CAREER COLLEGE
SCHOLARSHIPS- If
you plan to attend a private career school, please stop by the Career Center
to see if your school is on the list that offers a $1,000 scholarship. (Three
from each high school will be awarded). No deadline specified.
BEV AND WES STOCK SCHOLARSHIP-$1,000 for student planning to
pursue a career in an athletic-related career. This scholarship is
based on merit (curriculum, GPA, community service). Must
submit an essay, transcript, three letters of recommendation. Deadline: June 1, 2009.
