Clinical Guidelines and Expectations
- Sports Medicine
Mrs. Groves
ATTENDANCE: This is a job which requires responsibility that you are required to be in class on time
every day. The people you are working for expect this from you and so do I. They conduct their business
much different than we conduct our high school for the most part. You are allowed 1 excused absence per
month. After 5 absences your grade drops one full letter grade if for any reason, you will not be at your site,
you must call me before noon and you must also call your site and let them know. If you know you are
going to be gone (like for an athletic event) make an arrangement the day before and let me know.
TIME SHEETS AND DIARIES: You will receive portfolios; in which you will find time sheets and
diaries that you are required to fill out and keep each day. These must be with you at your site each day,
when I arrive I expect to see them. Have them filled out and ready for me to see. If you do not have it filled
out your grade will drop one full letter grade. When you go out to job hunt, you will have a nice portfolio of
your entire clinical experience. Your potential employer will be very impressed, and you will probably get
the job.
RESPONSIBILITIES, ATTITUDE, AND WORK ETHIC: Treat this class as a job. You are required
to be there everyday and work to the best of your ability while you are there. Your site is taking a chance
on you. You represent yourself, the Sports Medicine Program, and Lewis and Clark High School while you
are there. You need to clearly communicate with your site. You need to understand exactly what they are
expecting of you, and you need to let them know what you expect to get from this experience. Here are
some items tat you need to expect to understand dress code. Most places do not allow jeans, tight clothes,
high heels, etc… communicate! Ask them what you can and can’t wear. get a phone number for both your
site and me. Explain your transportation situation. If you have to walk in bad weather etc… let them know
what you know, but make them understand that there must be some review, and that you would like to learn
to run modalities, etc. My work number is 354-7036, call me if you are going to be gone. Keep daily diaries
and time sheets with you, have them ready.
Don’t miss work if you have the sniffles,
suck it up! Be positive
and cheery while you are at work. They
don’t have time to deal with bad attitudes.
Ask a lot of questions
and find the right people to ask.
Communication is the key. Call me if you need to
discuss an issue with your
site. |
