LC FITNESS
EACH STUDENT IS
RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
- Because the heart rate monitors
require the use of an electrode encased in a chest strap, which includes an
elastic belt and transmitter, the repeated use of the elastic belt
throughout the day requires constant adjustment and cleansing of the strap.
We are requiring students to purchase their own strap as part of their
fitness gear. The cost of the strap is $5.00 and can be purchased from their
teacher in the fitness department. Students need to replace the strap if
lost. If there is a problem meeting this fee, please let your child’s
counselor know immediately.
- It is important that fitness and
health dress does not damage equipment or facilities and that such dress
does not jeopardize any student’s health or safety. Each student is expected
to participate on a daily basis in appropriate gym attire. This will consist
of shorts or sweats and a shirt and appropriate gym shoes. No belt
loops, zippers, buttons, and brads are allowed which render jeans, etc
inappropriate. Spaghetti strap shirts and tank tops shirts are not allowed.
Shoes must be tied securely. Hats and headgear are also not allowed.
- In the event the student does not
have appropriate clothing, a set of clean loaner clothes will be provided.
If the student refuses to wear appropriate clothing for our class this
will be handled as a discipline item and the formal intervention process
will be used. We will call the parent/guardian and contact the counselor.
- Timely attendance is expected.
The Lewis & Clark formal intervention process for tardies will be followed.
Everyone needs to be in the locker room when the tardy bell rings and in
the gym for attendance five (5) minutes after the tardy bell.
- The locker rooms will be locked after the tardy
bell. If a student cannot dress due to the locker room being locked they
will assist the teacher during the period and will receive half a point.
They can make up the tardy for full credit.
- Abusive language (profanity)
will not be tolerated.
- Report any injury to the teacher
immediately.
If the student is injured, a note is
required from the parent explaining the situation. If the student will be
limited or will miss more than three days of fitness class, a Doctor’s note is
required. Each student is expected to dress in proper gym attire and
participate within the limits of their injury (Even with a parent note).
Each student is to be responsible for
the security of their own gym locker. It will be the responsibility of the
student to lock and secure his/her gym locker.
Unsecured lockers usually produce theft. The fitness and Health staff at Lewis
and Clark High School is not responsible for lost or stolen items. We feel the
students should accept the responsibility of keeping his/her locker locked
at all times. If the student has a lock issue, i.e. lock left on long
locker, items left out, lock not locked, that student will lose their credit for
the day.
