Classroom Expectations:

1.  When I am teaching or speaking, you are quiet and listening.

2.  Time given to you in class to work on your assignment is to be used for that purpose.

3.  You will respect others at all times.

Attendance & Late Work:

If you are absent it is your responsibility to find out what you have missed and to get the make-up work in to me within the time allowed (school policy is 2 days + the number of days absent).  If you know ahead of time that you will be absent from class, it is always better for you to get the work before the absence.  Late work will be accepted up until the unit test takes place.  After the unit test all make up work must be done through the Tiger Center. You will not be allowed to make up any work you missed due to an unexcused absence.

Grading:                                  50%        Tests                                      A             90%

                                                                20%        Quizzes                                 B             80%

                                                                30%        Assignments                         C             70%

                                                                                                                                D             60%

Notes:                         Notes are not graded.  However, note taking is essential to your success in this class.  Be organized and ready to take notes daily.

Assignments:               Assignments will be turned in daily, using a three phase process.    Phase 1: I will give you an assignment and you will complete it with a pencil (strictly enforced) showing all work.  Phase 2: the following day you will correct your assignment using a red pen and re-work those problems you have missed (use red pen on the assignment or pencil on a new attached paper) showing all work.  Phase 3: turn in the assignment the day after corrections were made in class.  Make sure all original and correction work is stapled together and labeled correctly.

Each assignment is worth 4 points (3 points for completeness/ neatness/showing work, and 1 point for corrections).

Tests/Quizzes:            There will be 1 to 2 quizzes per unit and unit tests will be given at the end of each unit.

Final Exam:                There will be a comprehensive final exam at the end of each semester.

Grade Posting:             Your grades will be posted periodically (by student ID #s) in the class room so you can track your performance.  Even better, I will be making assignments and grades available online via my website, “π of the Tiger.”  Stay tuned to find out when that will launch.

Food Policy:

There will be no food allowed in the classroom.  The only beverage allowed will be water in a clear, closed container.

welcome…it’s great to meet you!
