International Relations (Civics, Economics)

Student assignment:

In a persuasive paper or presentation, you will select a product, service, or natural resource in your local or state economy and:

  1. Analyze how a specific international agreement or policy has affected the buying, selling, or use of this product, service, or natural resource using specific examples.
  2. Describe international stakeholders involved in this agreement or policy and explain how they are affected by this involvement using specific examples.
  3. Explain how the forces of supply and demand influence the buying, selling, or use of the product, service, or natural resource selected using specific examples.
  4. Present a position on the effects of international relations on the community in a coherent presentation/paper that:
    • is well-organized,
    • is well-supported by accurate evidence, and
    • includes a general statement about the effects of international relations.

Civics 3.2.2c *at highest level... Accurately describes at least three international stakeholders involved in an agreement or policy related to product, service, or natural resource selected and explains how they are affected from this involvement.
Economics 2.3.2a *at highest level... Accurately explains how the forces of supply and demand influence the buying, selling, or use of the product, service, or natural resource selected with at least two specific examples.
Social Studies Inquiry
Information Skills 1.1.2f		 *at highest level... Presents a clearly stated, plausible position on the effects of international relations on the community in a coherent presentation/paper that (all of the following):
  • is well-organized,
  • is well-supported by accurate evidence, and
  • includes a general statement about the effects of international relations.
Social Studies Skills 1.1.2d *at highest level... Annotated bibliography includes a variety of resources from multiple perspectives. Annotations discuss reliability and credibility and show validity through comparison of resources.
