YOU ARE INVITED TO JOIN
THE LC TIGER FUND!

To:  Fellow Lewis and Clark High School Alums

We are pleased to announce the creation of the LC TIGER FUND.  This fund is our permanent legacy for future students of Lewis and Clark High School, providing scholarships for post high school education, support for student participation in high school programs and activities, and other forms of support for our alma mater.  The fund is in the form of an endowment that will grow and yield resources each year for generations to come.  Please join us in building this legacy.

The Inland Northwest Community Foundation (INCF), based in Spokane, is managing our fund.  INCF provides the IRS tax-exempt status for our contributions, oversees the investment of the funds, maintains the accounting records for the fund, and helps us make the distributions.  The Foundation currently manages more than 200 funds, including 35 funds that support scholarships and benefit local students. It has more than 30 years of experience and manages assets totaling over $57 million (as of December 2006).  INCF invests our endowment in a manner that provides a return that supports the awards and even increases the endowment. For more information, contact PJ Watters at www.inwcomfound.org or 1-888-267-5606.

We are asking for your generous support of the LC TIGER FUND.  This is our opportunity to help make life better for future generations and to give something back to the community we grew up in and the high school that we remember so fondly.

As many of you know the cost of education has risen dramatically.  Tuition and expenses at many colleges and universities has increased 5- to 10-fold or more since the 1960s.  Also, current students at LC are now required to absorb an ever-increasing portion of the cost of special programs and activities.  While some money is currently available to help LC students, additional support is needed and greatly appreciated.  LC students and families need our help today so that their hard work and dreams can be realized.

We are asking each LC alum and their families to make a generous tax-deductible gift or pledge to the LC Tiger Fund at INCF.  MAKE YOUR CHECKS AND GIFTS PAYABLE TO: INLAND NORTHWEST COMMUNITY FOUNDATION or INCF.  PLEASE NOTE ON YOUR CHECK THAT YOUR GIFT IS FOR THE LC TIGER FUND Gifts and pledges should be sent directly to the Inland Northwest Community Foundation, 221 North Wall Street, Suite 624, Spokane, WA 99201-0826.  They will provide a receipt for your charitable contributions.  Payment of your pledge can be made on a quarterly basis or even on your charge card.  The Foundation can also accept gifts of appreciated stocks or securities, which is a great way to make a large gift.  You may wish to consider making a bequest to the LC Tiger Fund at INCF in your estate plan.

To date we have received gifts and pledges of $9,200.  Much more is required to meet the needs of the many deserving students.

A $25,000 endowment will provide $1,000 for LC to use to support its students and award scholarships YEAR AFTER YEAR. A committee of alums will work with the school to establish the criteria for awarding the annual proceeds and to select the recipients. The more we can raise, the more LC students improve their lives.

Lewis and Clark High School continues to be a great high school. This is your opportunity to show your pride and keep it exceptional. Thank you in advance for caring!

Sincerely,

Dave and Gary
