National Honor Society Collection Drive

Our collection drive is now complete! We collected 393 pounds of donations for our troops. We shipped 30 boxes on April 23rd and they should arrive in Italy within a few weeks for the 173rd Airborne Division. From there, the supplies will be sent to the members of the 173rd based in Northern Iraq.

I'm Sergeant Major Jeff Hartless of the 173d Airborne Brigade. I would like to thank all of the great students of Lewis and Clark High School and the people of Spokane, Washington for all of the support and packages you have sent to the Paratroopers of the 173d. The Command, Staff, and Paratroopers appreciate the time, effort, and goodies we have received. Once again, thank you and god bless you all.

"SKY SOLDIERS"

To all Students and faculty that participated in Operation LC Heroes,

As a soldier in serving in the Iraqi Theater of Operations and a Lewis and Clark Alum I would like to say thank you for your support. It is very hard to be away from family serving in countries that don't always welcome you, but with the kind of support that you have provided it makes me proud to be a service member and a former Lewis and Clark student.

I was browsing the internet, and I came along the website of my old high school Lewis and Clark.  I scrolled down and saw the article on the packages for the troops in Iraq, and thought that I might write back and say thank you for what you are doing. I, myself am not stationed there, I am stationed in Okinawa Japan, but I do have a lot of friends stationed in Iraq as a Remote TDY.  I visited LC when I cam home for a week and a half of leave in the winter time last year, and I love the new building.  Mostly I love the fact that they kept the old marble on the floors and still have a skywalk.  If was up to me thought, I would of kept the field house!!  I loved that building!!

As a United States Military member, and a former student of Lewis and Clark, I just want to say good luck to all the new freshman, hang in there and stick it out.  And to all the returning seniors, when this year is over, you will be released out into the wild.  Stay on top of it, don't let it bite you.  And of course being a future recruiter, I want to say that if you are thinking of joining the military, don't let anyone tell you what it is going to be like.  You make the military what you want, out of your own experience.  It is going to be very strenuous, grueling, and uncomfortable, all your buttons will be pressed and your nerves will be shot, but just like high school, stick it through and complete it.  When you do, you will feel a sense of pride that you have never experienced before.

Once again, thank you for what you are doing for our military and our country.

Sincerely,

Senior Airman Aaron S. Hastey

I am a former student of LC, and was perusing the internet when I stumbled onto the website. I just wanted to say that I am especially impressed with the amount of support that has been given in support of the troops in the Middle East. As a former troop assigned on a deployment over there, I wanted to let you and the students know how incredibly special it is to receive packages and support from people back home. I can say that I made it safely home back to my assigned duty station in Colorado, but I feel for all of the troops over there and pray for them everyday. I'm especially proud to see my fellow Spokanites and LC staff and students helping out as much as possible. Keep up the good work, and I know that I speak for all
the troops when I say THANK YOU!
