Report Cards will be given to students and hand-carried home on Wednesday, February 8th!
MAP Scores will be mailed home at a later date.

Math Night!

Tuesday, February 7th
 
Please join our math teachers and some of our students at Salk's Math Night! This event is designed to provide our community with an overview of the math curriculum at Salk, giving some examples of what math classes look like and provide an opportunity to become familiar with online resources designed to help our math students with their learning. This event will be hosted in the library. We look forward to seeing you there!
 

Salk’s Music Dept 17th Annual Spaghetti Feed

and Silent Auction

 

The Parents/Guardians of the Salk Music Department are hosting the 17th Annual Spaghetti Feed and Silent Auction
Thursday, February 9th, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm,
in the
Salk Cafeteria.  This is the Music Department’s main fundraiser for the year.

 

The dinner menu includes spaghetti with marinara sauce, tossed green salad & dressing, bread, dessert and a beverage.  Soda pop will also be available to purchase.

 

During dinner and throughout the evening, make bids on the many great items in our wonderful Silent Auction!  The proceeds from this event will help pay for uniforms, music and transportation costs to festivals, competitions and other expenses not provided for by School District 81 for the bands, choirs and orchestra.

It is a pleasure to welcome you to our school. As a student at Salk, you will have the opportunity to experience a first-class education. In the classroom, Salk students take part in a challenging selection of core academic courses as well as an elective program that focuses on the application of technology, health and fitness and fine arts. We also offer exceptional vocal and instrumental music programs for students who choose to participate. In fact, Salk students are offered a well-rounded, engaging educational program during their time in our school.

Announcements

  • For 8th graders moving up to high school next year...
     
    Students will travel to Shadle or NC on February 22nd from 12:00 PM - 2:30 PM for High School Preview Day, which includes a tour and registering for next year's classes.  On that day, students will go to and register at the high school for the attendance area in which they reside (their 'home school').  If a student wishes to apply for an intra-district special transfer, he/she must register at their home school ON PREVIEW DAY and submit the Special Transfer Request to the home school no later than March 31st.  Upon approval of the special transfer, student will then be able to register at the transfer school.
     
    ALL QUESTIONS REGARDING REGISTRATION, ORIENTATION AND TRANSFERS
     
    SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE HOME HIGH SCHOOL.
     
    If you would like your student to not attend the high school visitation, please conact our office at 354-5600.
     
    Parents have an opportunity to gather information before students tour and register at their home high school as follows:
    • Feb 13 - North Central Parent Orientation @ 6:30 pm
    • Feb 13 - Shadle Park Parent Orientation @ 6:30 pm

  • February 2nd - 10th is Spirit Week! Our celebrations will go like this:

    2/2/2012 - Groovy shoes day! Dress up in North Central or Shadle High School colors to support the big basketball game.
    2/3/2012 - Salk Spirit day! Dress in Salk colors.
    2/6/2012 - College Attire day!
    2/7/2012 - Hat day
    2/8/2012 - Crazy Hair / Fashion Disaster day!
    2/9/2012 - Fake An Injury day!
    2/10/2012 - Neon day! Be sure to dress up in neon colors and then come to our Salk Neon Mixer after school from 3:30-5:00. Tickets are $2 with ASB cards and $4 without. We will sell tickets starting Monday during lunches.
     
    Thank you for participating in our spirit week! We will give candy and prizes out all week to the most spirited students!
