East Central families, caregivers, neighbors, businesses, and community organizations,
I consider it a great privilege to serve the children of Frances L.N. Scott with all of you. This neighborhood has history that is both beautiful and unjust, along with a rich and proud culture. I am honored and humbled to walk alongside you as we raise the children of our community up together.
As we get to know one another, I hope you will find that I am committed to connecting each and every kid to a sense of hope and a dream for what the future holds for them. That means we are welcoming them into our school building as they are, making sure they know that they belong, and that their dignity and their story matter to us. We are connecting them to as many opportunities as they can dream up by partnering with many of you who want to be a part of this important work.
And it means that we are holding everyone to high expectations for walking toward those dreams – we as the Frances Scott staff, you as caregivers and community members, and especially our students. We want to empower every kid, every day, to gain skills to independently navigate the academic, social, economic, technological, and even the unknown challenges we face in the 21st Century.
Trust that we take on this critical work of children’s learning, not on our own, but as a whole community who cares for our kids. It is on all of us to make meaningful connections with every kid, every day.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve this community with all of you!
Kristin Day,
Principal
