TCS Learning Outcomes

  • Our philosophy at The Community School starts with Growth Mindset based on the work of Carol Dweck. A growth mindset is centered on the belief that your basic qualities are things you can cultivate through over time. Instead of a fixed mindset which is based on the belief that intelligence and talent are fixed (positively or negatively), a growth mindset is built on the belief that through persistence, effort, overcoming failure, and embracing challenges, our intelligence and abilities grow. Those with this mindset believe that a person’s true potential is unknown; that it’s impossible to foresee what can be accomplished with commitment, passion, and continuous effort.

"I believe that my curiosity and passion for learning was cultivated at New Tech, and the skills that I developed — critical thinking, self-discipline and time management, communication and team working—have proven invaluable in nearly every aspect of my life."—Alumni, New Technology High School
