Welcome to Ferris!

  • Students and Parents:

Welcome to the 2019-20 school year at Joel E. Ferris High School. We are excited to partner with you and your student as they pursue their individual goals and dreams. We have a staff that is devoted to our mission of “Every Student, Every Classroom, Every Day.”

Our facilities are beautiful, secure, and brimming with cutting-edge technology. The Joel E. Ferris students and staff are very proud of the fact that this past year Ferris again rated highly by the U.S News as one of "America's Best Schools". In fact, Ferris was rated the highest of the Spokane School District High Schools. This was accomplished by the hard work of our students lead by a dedicated staff focused on improvement. Ferris will continue its “Tradition of Excellence” in providing a full breadth of programs in academics, arts, activities, and athletics.

Traditions play a vital role in the successful culture that thrives at Ferris. The entire Ferris community becomes involved in Rubber Chicken, Hello Week, Spirit Cons and so on. Parents are highly involved and are significant contributors to the vitality of the Ferris community. The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC), Booster Clubs, and the Parent/Teacher Group (PTG) all provide an opportunity for parents to give of their time and talents to support the success of Ferris students. The PTG produces the annual community variety show, “Ham on Regal”, that includes over 300 Ferris parents and staff. Proceeds from the show support activities, athletics, and academic programs for the entire school. I encourage you to get involved and become a vital member of our Ferris Community.

At Ferris we encourage all students to take a challenging, relevant course of study. Students should work to maximize their options for life after high school by taking rigorous courses in our Advanced Placement program and/or advanced courses in Career and Technical Education or the Arts. At Ferris, each and every student can excel. To support student success, our program includes a variety of extended learning opportunities and interventions for students who need additional support. We want to provide every opportunity possible for students to get the help they need to be successful. We encourage all students to stretch themselves in the selection of their academic classes as well as choosing to become involved in our rich variety of athletics and school supported clubs and activities. From our championship sports programs to our nationally renowned music programs, there is something for everyone.

Please take the time to get involved in your child’s education. It is vital to their success. We look forward to partnering with you to help ensure a great 2019-20 school year for your child. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have. Welcome to the Ferris Family! Go Saxons!
