    CLASS OF 2024 SENIOR EVENTS & GRADUATION INFORMATION:

     


    Graduation Overview:

    Cap and Gown Distribution Details:

    • If students/families have questions about cap and gown distribution, please contact Pete Baurenfeind by email at jostenspete@gmail.com or by phone at 509-468-1608.

    Golden Ticket Information (including laptop collection):

    • Seniors must pick up their Golden Ticket

    • Once Seniors have completed the Golden Ticket, they must return it back to the Counseling Center to be cleared prior to graduation.

    • Seniors with an incomplete Golden Ticket will not be eligible to walk at graduation.

    • Golden Ticket Steps:
      • STEP ONE: Collect signatures from each teacher. Each teacher will indicate whether or not you will pass their course.
      • STEP TWO: Visit Mrs. Eberhardt/Ms. Eddy in the College and Career Center (B104) or Ms. Aaliyah in the Library and have one of them sign off that you’ve completed your High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP).
      • STEP THREE: Return your laptop and power cord. If you are currently enrolled in CWA/CIVICS, you will return your laptops to the library as a class. If you are NOT enrolled in either class, please return to the LIBRARY
      • STEP FOUR: Visit the Bookroom and make sure you have turned in all outstanding materials that you’ve checked out (calculators, books for classes, etc.).
      • STEP FIVE: Visit the Business Office to have your fees and fines assessed. Diplomas and transcripts will be held until fees and fines are cleared.
      • STEP SIX: Turn in your completed Golden Ticket during your lunch

    • Laptop Collection Details:
      • Laptop and cord collection will take place for seniors on TBD in the library. Seniors who are taking a social studies class at Shadle (either Current World Affairs or AP U.S. Government and Politics) will have their laptops and cords collected during those respective classes. 
      • Seniors not taking a social studies class in the building will also have their laptops collected in the library TBD. Those seniors should plan to have their laptops and cords collected during TBD
      • Each senior must bring a laptop, charging cord, checklist (also known as the “Golden Ticket”) and writing utensil to laptop collection.
      • Please let our Librarian, Mrs. Hanson, know if you have questions concerning laptop and charge cord collection.

    Graduation Day Details:

    • Guests: There is NO LIMIT to the guests a student can bring and thus NO TICKETS NEEDED. Please plan to arrive an hour early to ensure you can find parking and get your seat.

    • Entrance/Security: ALL PARTIES attending will pass through security screening.

    • Clear Bag Policy & Prohibited Items: The Podium has a clear bag policy meaning guests may carry one clear plastic or vinyl bag no larger than 14” x 14” x 6”. Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" are also permitted. Additionally, cow bells, megaphones, or other noise makers are also not permitted.

    • Parking: Please see the Podium Parking Map for information regarding where to park for your student's Graduation ceremony. 

    • Photos of Graduates: Dorian has partnered with Waldo, a platform that utilizes face recognition, for senior graduations. This partnership will have numerous benefits for families. Please see the overview flyer for more information and instructions on how to register.

    • FAQ:

    Graduation Expectations:

    • Attire: Students are expected to dress professionally and wear attire appropriate for the ceremony. Costumes, props, etc. are not permitted.

    • Behavior: Students are expected to behave in a manner that reflects the culture of graduation and does not detract from the moment for other graduates, families, or the community.

    • Decorating of Cap:
      • Graduation is a day about both the entire graduating class and you as an individual graduate.
      • Tribal and other cultural decorations under RCW 600.500 are allowed.
      • All other decorations must be approved by Mr. Dunn by TBD. No caps will be approved after this date.
      • Students wearing caps with unapproved decorations may be withheld from walking at graduation.

     

    • STUDENTS WHOSE ATTIRE OR BEHAVIOR DETRACTS FROM THE MOMENT, INCLUDING THE CELEBRATION OF BOTH THE INDIVIDUAL AND THE CLASS AS A WHOLE, WILL HAVE THEIR DIPLOMA HELD UNTIL AN IN-PERSON MEETING CAN BE SCHEDULED WITH THE PRINCIPAL, SUPERINTENDENT, THE STUDENT, AND THEIR FAMILY.
