Franklin Elementary Modernization & Addition

  • The Franklin Elementary School Modernization and Addition is just one of many projects that Spokane voters approved by passing the 2015 school bond. The $205 million district-wide plan includes renovations, modernization or replacement of four elementary schools/ safety, security and technology updates for the entire school district; and building, field or playground improvements for all schools.   • Location:  Franklin Elementary School opened in 1909 at 2627 East 17th Ave. in southeast Spokane. Given the unique architectural and historical significance of the main building, special care was taken during the modernization and addition project to maintain the school's character.
    Current Facility Size (Approx Square Feet):  48,156 
    Current Site Size (Approx Acres):  5.98 
    Scope of Project:  The Franklin Modernization and Addition project consists of the renovation of the original historically significant 23,964-square-foot, three-story structure, removal of the non-historic additions and removal and/or relocation of the portables and construction of a new 36,000-square-foot addition. The project will also include site work, new parking lots, irrigation, plantings and playgrounds. The school will not be occupied during construction. Construction cost is estimated to be $17 million with construction scheduled to start in the summer of 2017.
