Welcome to the Salk Middle School Art website. My name is Colleen MacIver, and I am the art teacher at Salk, where we have a great art department. Fortunately for us, we have a wonderful administrative team at Salk that supports and values all the arts. At Salk, we offer two semester-long classes in art. Each semester, students create a variety of drawing, painting, sculpting, mixed media, and ceramic projects. Students can opt to take an entire year of art if they choose and repeat the class in consecutive years. Each year it is different in the art room, with different projects and opportunities to explore new processes and develop new skills. If you choose to take art, come with an open mind ready to delve into your creativity and problem-solving skills. The only supplies required for class are an extra-fine point, a black Sharpie pen, #2 wood pencil (Ticonderoga pencils are best!), and a sketchbook.
