Concert & Symphonic Band
The Concert Band at Lewis & Clark is open to all LC students who have middle school experience on an instrument. The Symphonic Band is the same class only slightly more advanced for our sophomores and juniors. The Symphonic Band combines with our Advanced Orchestra to form our Symphonic Orchestra. These are our primary ensembles for learning the skills necessary to play an instrument and be in a band.
The Lewis & Clark Symphonic Winds is the premier band ensemble at Lewis & Clark High School. This ensemble is made up of many of the finest musicians that Lewis & Clark has to offer. This group is open to all students upon successful completion of a qualifying audition.
The percussion ensemble at Lewis & Clark is open to all LC students who have middle school experience on a percussion instrument. This is the primary class for percussionists to learn the skills necessary to be a high school percussionist. This group performs percussion ensemble music by themselves but also provides percussion for all of the other music ensembles at Lewis & Clark.
The Lewis & Clark Jazz Ensembles are for Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet, Bass, Drum Set, Piano, Vibraphone, and Guitar students who are concurrently enrolled in any of the Lewis & Clark concert ensembles (Symphonic Winds, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Chamber Orchestra, Advanced Orchestra, Intermediate Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble). The Jazz Ensembles rehearse during zero hour and students should register for the class as soon as they are able. Currently we run two full jazz ensembles. Jazz 1 is an audition only ensemble while Jazz 2 is for everyone who wants to have a jazz experience. Auditions are during the first two weeks of the school year during jazz class time.
The Lewis & Clark Marching Band is combination of all the band and percussion classes. The ensemble performs at the Armed Forces Torchlight Parade (Lilac Parade) the third Saturday of May each year with the Tiger Cheerleaders and Tiger Drill Team.
The Lewis & Clark Pep Band has two components; the Football Pep Band and the Basketball Pep Band. The Pep Band begins meeting in August for the Football season and again in November for the Basketball season. The pep band is made up of volunteer students who are currently members of the Symphonic Winds, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Percussion Ensemble. Some of our string students (Chamber Orchestra, Advanced Orchestra, Intermediate Orchestra) also get involved and play electric bass, guitar, and/or keyboards.
