Parent Advisory Committee

  • As a part of the Indian Education Act of 1972 and Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), school districts that receive a Title VI formula grant are required to establish an Indian Education Parent Advisory Committee (PAC). The PAC is comprised of Native parents, teachers, and students. The PAC is responsible for advising Spokane Public Schools by working closely with the Indian Education Coordinator around the development, operation, and evaluation of the Title VI Indian Education program. In the true spirit of consultation, PAC are the experts as Indian parents and caretakers who know what thier children need.

The SPS Native Parent Advisory Committee Executive Board (PAC) will serve in an advisory capacity for the Every Student Success Act (ESSA) Title VI grant for Native Education.

The committee will make recommendations based on needs analysis, and objectives will administer program resource allocation.

The Native Parent Advisory Committee will review and approve the Title VI budget annually, conduct regular, open meetings and abide by reasonable bylaws.
