My name is Mark McCune and I became Hutton's school counselor in the fall of 2018. Previous to that, I spent six years working at Sheridan and Holmes elementary Schools, respectively. Before becoming a school counselor I served in full-time ministry for 20 years, counseling and leading youth and family ministries in congregations throughout the western United States. I hold a MA degree in Pastoral Ministry, a MS degree in Applied Psychology and a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. This past fall I earned my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification in school counseling. My work in engineering, ministry and education has enabled me to relate to a wide variety of people. I strive to use my life experience to help parents and student cope with challenges, solve problems and be inspired about their futures.
My passion is to provide Hutton Elementary with a comprehensive school counseling program to help students reach their potential academcically and social-emotionally, and to be excited about the world of work beyond high school. My program is built on the three pillars of individual and small group services as well as whole class instruction.
I love being part of the Hutton community! I have truly enjoyed working with our wonderful staff, servicing our students and collaborating with parents. Please feel free to reach out to me with any needs you may have.
