Dear Families,
It is an honor to serve as the Principal of Garfield Elementary, and my goal is to build a long and supportive relationship between our school and this community. Garfield is your community school. We will continue to ask for your input and support in meeting the education needs of the children in this community. Garfield has a tradition of successful academics, community involvement, and cultural diversity. We want to maintain the tradition as a foundation for us to continue to grow. We envision Garfield to be a positive space for the community to gather and support one another. Please check the Parent Involvement calendar regularly to see the events that are happening at school.
The Garfield Elementary staff are passionate, dedicated educators who are committed to providing rigorous and equitable opportunities for all students. We are determined to provide engaging instruction in reading, writing, math, and science, and create individualized opportunities for student growth. To make this happen, we collaborate regularly around student learning, challenge one another, and seek to continuously learn and improve. We set high expectations for ourselves, and our students, and work together in the process of achieving those expectations.
At Garfield we are committed to a safe and civil educational environment for all. In an effort to reinforce and educate students about a positive school climate we have implemented PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports). You can be assured we will be responsive to your ideas and concerns, and we will work together in the best interests of your child.
At Garfield you are welcome in our building. There are multiple options for you to volunteer, get involved in our Neighborhood Education Team (N.E.T.) find out about our Watch D.O.G.S. program, or just come visit and see what we are accomplishing. We offer after school activities, community nights, music events, and more! We invite you to be a part of what is happening here. Together we are building the future!!!
