Welcome to Moran Prairie!

  • Welcome to Moran Prairie Elementary School!

Our teachers, support staff, and other helpers in the school look forward to working in partnership with you to provide the best education for your children. We work together to ensure each student’s experience here is positive, productive, and meaningful. We believe in educating the whole child in a way that is inclusive of each student’s individual academic, social, and emotional needs.

Our website, the community calendar (on the homepage of the website), the family handbook, and our weekly parent newsletter the Moran Prairie Messenger (also linked on the website) serve as valuable resources when questions about our school, specific programs, school policies/practices, or updates arise. Please keep all four resources for use throughout the school year.

We also use the two main district communication platforms: PeachJar and Blackboard Communications. Families are automatically added to Blackboard Comms when they enroll their child, so if you aren’t receiving messages from us check your junk mail first then let us know. It may be that your email server or phone provider blocks our messages, and we can help!

We also deeply value our partnerships with families and the larger Moran Prairie Community. This partnership is what creates the greatest and most sustainable growth for students. There are many ways you can become actively involved in our school. We love having parent volunteers in our classrooms and our school. You can find requirements and directions to become an approved volunteer here. You can also attend field trips with your child’s class; you do have to be an approved volunteer to be a chaperone so please see the directions linked above. We have many fun events throughout the year as well for you to attend with your family!

You can also become involved as a member of our Moran Prairie Parent Teacher Group. Our PTG works throughout the school year to provide a wide range of enrichment activities, educational opportunities, and fun events for our students. PTG volunteers also assist with the day-to-day operation of our school, serving as tutors and providing support for classroom teachers. It is with the help of our wonderful parent and community volunteers that we are able to provide the very best education for Moran Prairie students.

Moran Prairie is a strong community with talented and caring staff, supportive families, and many community partners. We believe that any student or visitor who comes through our doors should feel a sense of belonging, welcome, and appreciation for who they are and what they bring to our community.

I look forward to meeting and working with you all!

    Warmly,

    Kate Hellenthal
