Businesses and industry leaders in the greater Spokane region are welcome to partner with SPS, its schools and its students to help prepare our future workforce. Businesses and individuals can partner in multiple ways:

Engage Students with Your Expertise

SPS CTE seeks business and industry professionals to collaborate in our classrooms. Here are ways to get involved:

  • Host a field trip or virtual tour: Show how your business works and let employees share their roles. Answer student questions.

    • Time: 40 minutes (virtual) to 3 hours (on-site)

  • Be a guest speaker: Speak virtually or in-classroom and answer student questions.

    • Time: ~40 minutes

Become a Classroom Partner

Offer Your Expertise to One Student

Provide a career experience t at your business to deepen student experience and knowledge:

  • Job Shadows: Give sophomores or juniors a day-in-the-life in the career that interests them at your business.

    • Time: 4-8 hours

  • Host an internship: Immerse a junior or senior in your company as an intern. Note: Unpaid apprenticeships have more restrictions than paid internships..

Mentor Match

Become a mentor to an SPS CTE student with the goals of:

  • Supporting students on in-class projects: Advise students on class projects related to your business, providing real-world insights and guidance.

    • Time: Variable

  • Shape the Future of Your Industry: In-person or online, to guide high school students on post-secondary educational programs and smart career moves, preparing them for a successful career in your industry.

    • Time: Variable

Become a Mentor

Inform and Inspire CTE Teachers

CTE teachers gain valuable insight and guidance from business & Industry partnerships.

  • Join an Advisory Committee : Your expertise will guide CTE programs by informing them of industry changes and innovations. Your input is crucial for advising on improvements to school facilities and equipment, as well as reviewing curriculum requirements.

    • Time: Advisories meet at least three times a year.

  • Offer an Externship: Help a teacher learn how the work is done and how your business fits into the local economy. Teachers then take the information back to their class, their student organization and their advisory.

    • Time: Variable
