Substitutes play a vital role at Spokane Public Schools. They help keep classrooms running smoothly and have flexible hours, can set their own schedules and receive competitive pay.

How to Apply

To be a Certificated Substitute, you need a Washington State Teaching Certificate.

Applicants will need to provide:

  • Resume

  • References

  • Letters of recommendation

  • Proof of certifications (if applicable)

  • Transcripts (if applicable)

Salary Schedules 

  • Substitute Teacher, Full day: $180, half day $90

  • Substitute Teacher, Special Ed, Full day: $190, half day: $95

  • Paraeducator, Hourly: $17.02

  • Paraeducator - Select Positions, Hourly: $20.24

  • Secretarial, Hourly: $19.08

  • Nutrition Services, Hourly: $16.82

  • Professional Technical, Hourly: $22.76

  • Executive Assistant, Hourly: $22.76

  • Bilingual Specialist, Hourly: $22.82

  • Registered Nurses, Hourly: $36.33
