The Free Application for Federal Student Aid application has changed for the Class of 2024 and current college students.
To ensure you will have access to free Federal Pell Grants, College Bound Scholarship, and Washington State Need Grants, please apply early. Every student will be eligible for federal loans, and many students can decline these as they have enough funding to support their college plans. See Mrs. Gwinn with questions.
Step One: Both parent and student must create an FSA ID: please go to studentaid.gov and create an account. This is your “online signature” and is required to complete the FAFSA. It takes a few days to process, so do it before you plan to complete the application.
Step Two: Gather the materials you will need to complete the FAFSA. You will need your social security number, birthdates, current emails, copies of filed taxes completed in 2022, and banking information.
Step Three: Log into the FAFSA application and complete. The Class of 2024 will be complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA Application.
TIP: You will select colleges and give them access to your financial information during the FAFSA process. FAFSA doesn't provide funds - it only allows the colleges you want to attend to create award letters for you based on your personal financial information. Every college you are admitted to and included on the FAFSA application will create an award letter for you. Please don't commit to a college until you know how much they are offering you. Four-year colleges will have award letters to you prior to May 1 (Decision Day). The community colleges will not provide award letters until late Spring or early Summer.
