New elementary schedule

The Spokane Public Schools board approved the 2019-20 budget late Wednesday night, which includes releasing elementary students, including Spokane Public Montessori, at 1:45 p.m. on Fridays. The change does not affect Libby students.

The school calendar will be updated soon to reflect the changes, reposted to spokaneschools.org, and distributed via Peachjar.

Details follow:

  • Elementary school students will be released at 1:45 p.m. every Friday beginning on Aug. 30.
  • Buses will pick students up from school every Friday at 1:45 p.m.
  • All elementary students will leave school at 1:45 p.m. on the 12 Fridays previously designated as professional peer learning days:

    • Jan. 10
    • Feb. 7

    • April 24

  • The Friday of elementary conference weeks will run on the conference release schedule.
  • On the remaining 20 Fridays, students will have the option of staying at school until 3 p.m. to participate in after-school programming. (More information about the program will be provided next week.) Bus service will be offered at 1:45 p.m. and 3 p.m. on those days:

  • The Express program will serve all its registered and scheduled students each Friday throughout the 2019-20 school year. The Express program is a licensed childcare program that is open for care from 1:45 to 6 p.m. each of the additional Fridays.  Families who are registered for Express and scheduled for care on Fridays will not incur any further cost.
