Last week, special education teacher Stacey Higgins was surprised to see her daughters, Megan and Christina, at a Madison Elementary School assembly. They were there to present their mom with the first-ever Lou Lou Award, an award created by the Higgins family to recognize an outstanding special education teacher in Spokane Public Schools.
Named in honor of Laurel “Lou Lou” Davis, Mrs. Higgins’ sister who inspired her 43-year career dedicated to working with students with special needs, the Higgins family has committed a $500 annual gift for the next ten years to present the award.
Congratulations, Mrs. Higgins! We are so grateful for you!
